Looting While Fasting: Islamabad Call Centre Plundered During Ramadan

Islamabad Raid Sparks Mass Looting: A shocking incident unfolded in Islamabad’s sector F-11 when a fake call centre was raided by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). What followed next left many stunned—locals swarmed the premises and looted laptops, monitors, furniture, and even cutlery.

The call center, allegedly operated by Chinese nationals, was suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities.

Residents Seize Opportunity Amidst Raid

Residents in the area spotted an opportunity as soon as the FIA shut down the illegal call center and hurried in to grab whatever they could. A viral video showing men of all ages carrying away electronic devices and other office equipment shows some of them even walking away with chairs and utensils.

Social Media Reacts with Humor and Outrage

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, where users had a field day commenting on the bizarre turn of events. One user humorously remarked, “Pakistan is the only country where opening a business is riskier than investing in crypto.”

Another quipped, “Looks like they mistook a call centre for a charity drive—everything from laptops to cutlery gone!”

However, not all reactions were lighthearted. Many expressed disappointment over such behavior during Ramadan. One user commented, “This is extremely embarrassing,” while another added, “Nice way of celebrating a holy month.

Authorities Take Action, Arrest 24 Suspects

The FIA’s raid on the centre resulted in the arrest of 24 individuals, including several foreign nationals. Some suspects, however, managed to escape before being apprehended. Reports suggest that the centre was involved in defrauding people on a global scale.

Not the First Looting Incident in Pakistan

This is not the first instance of public looting in the country. A mob broke into a recently opened mall in Karachi in September last year, pilfering clothing and other goods, seriously damaging property. The Islamabad contact centre incident emphasizes even more the rising tendency of lawlessness in such circumstances.

Authorities are under increasing pressure to reduce such events and bring those guilty to justice as inquiries keep on.
