After nearly seven years of marriage, Joe Manganiello decided to move forward with the process of legally separating himself and Sofia Vergara by filing paperwork in Los Angeles for divorce.
Joe Manganiello, who plays Magic Mike, submitted a petition for divorce to the Los Angeles County Superior Court just two days after he and Sofia Vergara announced publicly that they were ending their marriage and relationship.
In court records acquired by the news outlet E! On July 19, the forty-six-year-old actor stated “differences that are unresolved” as the reason for the breakup of their marriage and named July 2, 2023, as the day of their divorce.
In his filing, he also mentioned that they have a prenuptial agreement and urged the court to affirm that all of their separate possessions, including their wages and jewels, belong to each of them individually. In addition to this, he requested that the legal fees be split evenly between the two parties.
Although they do not share any children together, Vergara is already a parent to her son Manolo, who is 31 years old; from the previous marriage she had to Joe Gonzalez.
Manganiello and the former cast member of Modern Family had been wed for seven years until announcing on July 17 that they were no longer together.
The couple issued a statement together to Page Six at the time, in which they said, “We had to make the hard choice to divorce.” while two people who cherish and care for each other a great deal, we would kindly ask that our privacy be respected at this time while we traverse this new era of our life. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Vergara has been posting images from her latest 51st birthday party in Italy, whilst Manganiello has been conspicuously absent from social media in the midst of the divorce proceedings.
In a post that she published on Instagram on July 15, she captioned it, “When life gives you lemons, u travel to Italy to juice them.” The caption was accompanied by a photo of her enjoying a meal outdoors. The next day, she posted a series of photographs to her Instagram account with the remark “Perfect day.”
Her vacation photos got the attention of her co-star on Modern Family, Julie Bowen, who remarked on an image of Sofia Vergara lounging in the sun while wearing a blue swimsuit with a cheetah design, saying, “This represents what lonely and feels like!!!”
On November 21, 2015, at their wedding in Florida, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello exchanged their vows in front of a large number of famous guests, including Bowen.
In addition to Manganiello’s co-star from Magic Mike XXL, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Channing Tatum, and Reese Witherspoon were among the more than 400 guests at the party. Also in attendance were Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Ty Burell, and Sarah Hyland, who are all castmates of Vergara’s series Modern Family.
In a conversation with Cigar Aficionado in 2018, Manganiello discussed Vergara and stated that she was the one for him. People frequently make statements such as, “Marriage as well as relationships require effort.” However, this is not the case. Life is not easy. It is the best thing that could have ever happened to have somebody there to assist you in working through it.
