Israel Airstrikes on Syria

According to a story from the BBC on Sunday, Israel stated that it has started retaliation assaults on Syria, targeting military sites, in reaction to the missiles that had been fired upon the northern area from the Golan Heights.

There have been no reports of any injuries or fatalities.

During the Ramadan fasting month, Israeli forces conducted a search operation at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, where worshippers were gathered to pray. This action brought the level of tension to its highest point. The mosque is currently being held hostage by several hundred Palestinians who have sealed themselves inside.

Palestinian pilgrims gathering in Al-Aqsa Mosque for Ramadan prayers were the target of rubber-coated metal bullets and shock grenades fired by police, as seen in videos of the incident.

Israel was hit by three rockets, two of which fell to the ground while the third was shot down by Israeli defenses.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense has issued a statement confirming the attacks, stating that their air defenses have reacted to the attacks and have successfully apprehended some of the rockets. They have also stated that there have been no reports of casualties and that the strikes have only caused destruction.

On the reverse side, state-run media in Syria reported blasts in the vicinity of Damascus, the country’s capital.

According to a report by a Lebanese media channel called Al Mayadeen TV, a group that is supported by Iran called Al-Quds Brigade has claimed responsibility for the strikes.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) made it clear that they hold the country of Syria accountable for any and all actions that take place on Syrian soil and that they will not tolerate any attempts to undermine Israeli sovereignty.

The Kingdom of Jordan, which shares borders with both Syria and Israel, has reported that a missile burst in the air on evening of Saturday, and debris from the explosion fell into Jordanian territory, although there were no fatalities as a result of the incident. It was never made clear where the rocket had originated from.

Israel officially took control of the Golan Heights in 1986. As a consequence of the 6-Day War that took place in 1967, it was also taken from Syria at an earlier time.

The attacks by Israeli come only a day after Israel struck a number of military facilities belonging to Hamas in Lebanon on Friday. Israel has claimed that the assaults took out in retaliation for the firing of 34 missiles into Israeli territory on Thursday.

On Saturday, Jordan put out an alert to Israel, stating that there would be devastating consequences for Israel if its forces continued to storm the Al-Aqsa mosque.

According to Israeli journalist Gideon Levy, who spoke to Al Jazeera, The situation is exceedingly volatile and perhaps explosive.

He continued by saying, in reference to the ultra-nationalist government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, that in contrast to previous years, we are currently dealing with a very drastic government that is, on the one hand, quite powerful and, on the reverse hand, very fragile. This is due to the fact that the most drastic parts of it have been pushing for acts that could turn out to be a catastrophe.

The scenes that emanated from the Al-Aqsa Masjid were scenes of cruelty that have not been witnessed in recent years, and I believe that any little match can now set fire to the entire region. He stated that although he hoped it would not occur, it is impossible for anyone to guarantee that it will not.

The primary facility in Aleppo that served as a conduit for humanitarian supplies since the fatal earthquakes hit north Syria and the southern part of Turkey on February 6 was bombed by Israel, one of the hundreds of operations Levy said that Israel has been taking out against what it alleges are Iran-linked elements in Syria.

In Israel, neither the public nor the media are discussing the raids in Syria. He pointed out that no one knows why, in what shape, or at what cost.

That much is obvious. Israel is risking a nuclear war with Iran by invading Syrian sovereignty. For how much longer will Syrians and Iranians remain silent?
