Important: This visa is only available to those who have a definite job offer with an employer who has been officially recognised as meeting certain standards. If you remain employed by the same company for a period of two years, you will be eligible to submit an application for permanent residency.

Skilled Migrant Visa

People can obtain permanent residency in New Zealand by applying for a visa under the Skilled Migrant Category.

  • Your relationship needs to be founded on honesty and consistency.
  • You are required to be cohabitating with your partner.
  • You are required to have satisfactory levels of both health and character.
  • You cannot proceed without the backing of your partner.
  • Your partner must be eligible to support your application.
