Captain of Bangladesh, Mohammad Mahmudullah won the toss and decide to bat first. The start of the team was not good as 2 wickets were down for just 3 runs in the 3rd over. Shakib Al Hassan showed some resistance against the Australian bowlers in partnership with Mohammad Mahmudullah.

Shakib made 26 runs while Mahmudullah made 52 runs. Other than these two players, only Afif Hossain and Nurul Hasan could manage to score double-figure runs. They both made 19 and 11 runs respectively.

Bangladesh team could only manage to put 127 runs on the board in a limited 20 overs and they lost 9 wickets. Australia required 128 runs and it was an easy total for any team.

Australia lost their first wicket on 8 runs and after that, they could manage to build a long but slow partnership. They lost their 2nd wicket on 71 runs in 14th over.

In 20 overs they could only manage to make 117 runs and they lost only 4 wickets. Bangladesh successfully defended a low total and they not only won the match but they also won the 5 match series as well. Now they are leading the series with 3-0.

The 4th match of the series will be played on 7th August while the last match will be played on 9th of August.

Meanwhile, England’s tour to Bangladesh has been postponed for an indefinite time. This series was scheduled for September, October. According to ECB, the decision was made by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), but there is no confirmation yet from the BCB.

More likely it was due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) which is going to resume from 19th September in UAE. Here you can check the history of IPL winners.

Most of the English players are interested in participating in the biggest T20 league in the world, IPL. So, ECB was planning to send a B team to Bangladesh. The cricket board of Bangladesh was not happy with this situation so they might take this decision as they want to host the key players of England.

Anyhow, at the moment cricket fans in Bangladesh are celebrating their first-ever series win against Australia. It is expected that the Bangladesh team will be a tough competitor in the World T20I Cup.
