Faf du Plessis Making His HBL PSL Debut; Will Play For Peshawar Zalmi

Former captain of South Africa, Faf du Plessis is making his debut in Pakistan Super League as he is all set to play for Peshawar Zalmi. Faf will replace Kieron Pollard who will be with his team on the tour to New Zealand.

Peshawar Zalmi is the only team of HBL PSL who has qualified for the playoffs stage in all 5 seasons of the league. They have won the title in 2017 and then they were runners-up for the next two seasons of the Pakistan Super League.

The 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League was started on 20th February 2020 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament was postponed after the group stages.

PCB officials once decided to declare the winner on the basis of the team standings in the group stages but then finally the decision to continue the next stage of playoffs at a later date. Now, PCB has announced the HBL PSL schedule and you can watch the matches from the 14th of November.

Here is the HBL PSL 2020 schedule;

  • First Qualifier: Multan Sultans vs Karachi Kings – Saturday, November 14
  • Eliminator: Lahore Qalandars vs Peshawar Zalmi – Saturday, November 14
  • Second Qualifier: TBC vs TBC – Sunday, November 15
  • Final:  TBC vs TBC – Thursday, November 17

At the moment, Multan Sultans is on the top of the points table who qualified for the playoffs for the first time. Karachi Kings at number two who played playoff matches in all 5 editions of HBL PSL but never qualified for the finals.

Lahore Qalandars at number 3 on the points table who qualified for the playoffs for the first time and they were at the bottom on the points table for all the 4 seasons of PSL from 2016 to 2019.

Peshawar Zalmi is at number 4 who is runner-up team in the 3rd and 4th season of PSL and winner of the 2nd season. The owner of the team, Javed Afridi, has confirmed that Faf du Plessis will be in Pakistan for the eliminator match in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

Overall, 21 players will be in Pakistan for the playoff matches starting from the 14th of November. Here you can check where to watch PSL links and a list of all the official broadcasting channels in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, USA, UK, and in other countries as well.
